Ammonite A relative of the modern octopus and squid that lived in the seas from Devonian to Cretaceous times. Its soft body was protected inside coiled shells. It snared its tiny prey with its long tentacles.

Ankylosaurs A group of armoured dinosaurs from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. They were covered with rows of bony plates and spikes. They had large, barrel-shaped bodies, supported by four sturdy legs. The group includes Ankylosaurus and Euoplocephalus. These dinosaurs had bony tail-clubs that they could swing into the heads or bodies of attackers.
