SCHOOLS

How much will it cost for my school to subscribe?

A school subscription for one year is $250, £200 or Rs. 20000 for up to 250 learners, in your school or year group, plus $1, £0.80 or Rs. 80 for each additional learner. Every learner will be able to gain access to the Q-files site free from adverts, both at school and from home.

So if you are a school or year group with, say, 400 learners, you will pay:

In US dollars: $250.00 plus $150.00 (150 additional learners), a total of $400.00.

In pounds sterling: £200.00 plus £120.00 (150 additional learners), a total of £320.00.

In Indian Rupees: Rs. 20000 plus Rs. 12000 (150 additional learners), a total of Rs. 32000.

If you are a school or year group with 250 learners or less, the annual fee is $250.00 (£200.00 or Rs. 20000).

What if I do not know how many learners there at my school or college?

Ideally, we need this figure in order to calculate an accurate subscription fee for you. Please contact us at info@q-files.com and we will be happy to help. 

Will everyone in the school be able to use Q-files? And from home?

Yes. Once you have subscribed (or during your free trial period), every learner at your school will be able to use Q-files, both in class and at home, free from adverts.

Learners can log in using the school’s email address and password, or via a unique referral link (see Logging in and Out below).

If you don’t have an email to use to sign up, please contact us at info@q-files.com.

What if learners pass on the log in details to others not in the school?

The Terms and Conditions forbid sharing log-in details with non-subscribers. Schools should discourage this. We are able to monitor usage levels.

I handle subscriptions for a number of schools. What procedure should I follow?

LIBRARIES

I am a library and I am interested in subscribing to Q-files. How much will it cost to subscribe and how do I go about doing so?

HOME USERS

How much will it cost for home use?

To use Q-files at home without adverts, we recommend downloading our app on Google Play or the App Store (coming soon).

Please note that the app and website have separate subscription systems, as app subscriptions are managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. This means app subscriptions can’t be used to access the website.

If you’d prefer to subscribe to the website, this is handled separately. A website subscription costs £1.99 / $2.50 / Rs. 200 per month, or £20 / $25 / Rs. 2000 per year, and doesn’t include access to the app—so you can choose the option that suits you best.

Can multiple children use one home subscription?

A home website subscription allows one user to be logged in at any one time. If multiple users need access simultaneously, separate subscriptions will be required.

What do I get with a subscription?

A subscription gives you full access to all Q-files content without adverts, including over 2,500 pages across a wide range of subjects, with new content added regularly.

Can I cancel my subscription?

If you have a monthly subscription, you can cancel at any time by clicking here.

If you have a monthly website subscription, you can cancel at any time by clicking here. Annual website subscriptions do not renew automatically, so there is no need to cancel.

If you subscribed via the app, you can cancel through your Apple App Store or Google Play account.

Once I have subscribed to the website, can I log in anywhere and on different devices?

Yes, if you have subscribed to the website (not the app). You log in using your email address and password, and this can be done on any device anywhere. Please note, with home subscriptions, only one user will be able to log in at any one time.

Is there a difference between the app and the website subscription?

Both provide access to Q-files content without adverts. The app offers a streamlined mobile experience, while the website can be accessed across multiple devices. Subscriptions are managed separately.

I would like to buy a gift subscription. Is this possible?

Yes. Purchase a subscription using the recipient’s email address. They will be able to create their own password via the confirmation email.

I run a home school. How should I subscribe?

You can subscribe as a home user at £1.99 / $2.50 / Rs. 200 per month or £20 / $25 / Rs. 2000 per year.

What if I am not a school or library but have multiple users?

THE SUBSCRIPTION PROCESS

Can I trial Q-files before subscribing?

We offer a free trial to all schools. Please contact us at info@q-files.com to request your trial. If you are an individual, please download the app on Google Play or the Appstore (coming soon) to gain access to 20 free pages of your choice before you subscribe.

I am interested in subscribing, but would rather not fill in an online form. What can I do?

The online process is quick and secure, but you can contact info@q-files.com for assistance.

Alternatively, you can subscribe to the app via Google Play or the App Store (coming soon).

I want to pay in a currency other than dollars (USD), pounds (GBP) or rupees (INR). How do I do that?

Our website subscription rates are currently calculated in those three currencies only. Your payment card will be debited in your home currency at current exchange rates. Alternatively, you can download the app to subscribe via Google Play or the Appstore (coming soon) in your home currency.

Can I pay by another method i.e. not using a credit or debit card?

If you are a school and wish to pay by bank transfer, please contact us at info@q-files.com and we will make the necessary arrangements. If you are a home user, I’m afraid we can only accept payment by this method for individuals subscribing to the website. Alternatively, you can download the app to subscribe via Google Play or the Appstore (coming soon) to subscribe using the payment options offered by those stores.

If at the end of my annual subscription plan I decide I would like to renew it, what happens next?

If you have subscribed via the webiste, we will send you a notification email shortly before your annual subscription period ends, asking if you would like to re-subscribe. We will not automatically bill your payment card for a subsequent 12 month period. If, as we hope, you would like to re-subscribe, then you will be directed to our subscription page and asked to enter your up-to-date details. If you are using the app, the store will automatically bill you for a further 12 months unless you cancel prior to the renewal date.

If at the end of my website annual subscription plan I decide not to renew, do I need to inform you?

When we send you our notification email shortly before your annual subscription period ends, simply disregard it. 

LOGGING IN AND OUT

How do I log in?

Click “Log in” on Q-files.com and enter your email address and password.

Is the password case sensitive?

Yes, both username (your email) and password are case sensitive.

What if I forget my password?

Click the “Forgot password” link on the login page and follow the instructions.

Can my school get a unique referral link (URL) to access Q-files without logging in with email and password?

Yes. If you require a URL for your school, please contact us at info@q-files.com and we will send one to you.

I’m a home user. Can I get a URL?

URLs are available for schools only, I’m afraid.

Can I use Q-files on my phone or tablet?

Yes. Q-files can be viewed on all computer devices. It is particularly suitable for use on tablets, where the portrait format and touchscreen facility allows children to explore what Q-files has to offer very easily. Q-files is a responsive site so the format will adjust to the width of your device. You can also use our dedicated app. Please note that app and website subscriptions are separate.

Do I need to log out each time we have finished a session on Q-files?

If you or a learner are using a public computer i.e. one that someone else will be using afterwards, please log out by clicking on the button in the top right corner of any page in Q-files. If you are using your own private device, there is no need to log out between sessions.

What age range of students is Q-files suitable for?

Q-files is ideal for students of all age, although those aged between 8 and 13 are likely to find it the most useful for schoolwork. For younger children, or for those who need a little more encouragement to read and understand various topics, look for the EASY READ pages. These are easily found in the scroll-down menus for most of the subject areas. Students aged 14 or older may also find Q-files extremely useful, especially as an introduction to new subjects at school or as a glossary of unfamiliar terms.
