A

Accelerator One of the pedals at a vehicle driver’s feet. It changes the car’s speed by controlling the amount of fuel that enters the engine. It is also called the gas pedal.

Aerofoil The shape of an aircraft’s wing. The wing is curved on its upper side so that, as the plane moves, the air flowing over the wing is made to move faster than that flowing under it. This creates lower pressure on the upper side than on the lower side. An upward force, called lift, is the result.
